Rex and LaVonne Ewing live and work from their solar- and wind-powered log home overlooking Colorado’s expansive front range. After handcrafting two log homes in the 1980’s, Rex spent several years as CEO of a well-respected equine nutrition firm, where he formulated and marketed numerous nutrition products worldwide. In 1997, he wrote a best-selling book on horse nutrition: Beyond the Hay Days: A Refreshingly Simple Guide to Effective Horse Nutrition, and has been published by several equine publications. The updated and expanded 2nd edition of Beyond the Hay Days was released in March 2003, and in April 2003, Ewing’s book Power With Nature: Solar and Wind Energy Demystified was released. Recently, Rex has written articles about renewable energy for Log Homes Illustrated and Log Home Living magazines. LaVonne is owner of Image Resource, a graphic design firm that specializes in book design, art catalogs, and corporate identities.
